Suffolk Tango is a non-profitmaking organisation which aims to promote Argentine Tango in Suffolk. We are an enthusiastic group whose aim is to build an Argentine Tango community in Suffolk. We run dances (milongas) practicas (practice sessions) and organise teachers to run classes and workshops. Our own local teachers take some of the classes. Argentine tango is a social dance which is improvised to the music, the television portayal of argentine tango is often the big set-piece rehearsed choreography of a show dance. In either case the delight of the tango is the strong connection between the two partners and the music.

If you are ever stuck for a partner or a lift to an event, or perhaps you would like other people to approach you as a partner or you can offer a lift please register with the new Suffolk Tango secure ‘find a partner’ page. If you email your details to cliff AT suffolktango.org.uk in the form of Please include either phone or email, but both if that’s convenient. Once I receive the request I will add your details to the page and also send you the password for you to access it yourself. The page is in a secure passworded area and will only be accessible to people who have provided their own information. The page is not visible to the public and will not appear on search engines. You will then be able to use the list to make contact with people who are happy to be approached. Please encourage other people to use it – but do not disclose the password – tell them to contact me as above. Our main communication method is the Yahoo Group (email Cliff to be added) but we would also encourage you to join our informal FaceBook Group. Last year we supported classes in Ipswich and East Bergholt, we also ran milongas (tango dance nights) in Stratford St Andrew East Bergholt and Saxmundham and had regular practicas (practice sessions) in Martlesham.. We aim to work with adjacent groups in Norfolk, Essex and Cambridge. If you would like to help organise events elsewhere in the county, for example in Ipswich, Bury St Edmunds, Felixstowe, Woodbridge, Stowmarket, Saxmundham, Wickham Market, Framlingham, Leiston, Mildenhall, Haverhill, Newmarket, Southwold, Sudbury or nearby in Colchester in Essex or Thetford in Norfolk then please contact us and we will help make it happen.
