Rachel is a dancer, teacher, performer and choreographer. She is a worldwide promoter and manager of Tango Productions. She also runs Tango Tours to Buenos Aires, Festivals and special workshops.
Rachel started dancing when she was 6 years old and 12 years of ballet and contemporary were the foundation for all that followed. In 1998 she discovered and was swept away by the Argentinean tango. Her most influential maestros are Carlos Gavito, Osvaldo Zotto & Lorena Ermocida, Roberto Herrera, Gustavo Naveira & Giselle Anne, Javier Rodriguez & Geraldine Rojas, Nito & Elba, Vanina Bilous. From 2003 she lived in Buenos Aires where she taught and performed. Her personal style is the outcome of fusion between traditional tango and modern tendencies, having studied working and dancing with milongueros, great masters of the traditional style and the leaders of “new age” tango. Elegance, grace, musicality and aesthetics within the embrace - the soul of tango, are her guidelines.

Beginners' Introductory Course
(Course now full - book now for next class in September)
Start the new year by learning to dance the elegant, evocative social dance of Argentine Tango. The course runs on Wednesdays at 7:45pm starting on 11 January for 8 weeks at Old Hall, East Bergholt, CO7 6TG. This is easily and quickly accessed from the A12 at junction 31 (15 mins from Ipswich and Colchester).
Teachers – Richard and Mandy are part of the Suffolk Tango teaching team. They will teach you the essential elements of Argentine tango so that by the end of the course you should be able to lead or follow your partner with confidence (we always rotate partners to speed the learning process and make the evening more fun) and you will be ready to move up to the regular classes at East Bergholt and Henley and take part in our social dances.
Prior booking essential but there is no need to book with a partner. Bookings will be confirmed once we have checked leader and follower numbers (if you can bring a partner all the better). The course is £40 and includes eight 2-hour sessions plus a CD of the best traditional Argentine music to listen to/practise with at home. Apply now because places are limited.
Please contact Rosemary AT SuffolkTango.org.uk or 01394 383908 register for a place.
In the meantime why not come along to the prácticas to meet us and find out what makes tango special. The practica doesn't include a class but you can be sure that one of the more experienced guys or girls will be only too happy to show you the basics.
